Pizza is a firm favourite in this house an although like everyone else sometimes it comes in a box from the supermarket or from the local take-away nothing tastes better than homemade! It really is super simple, try it once and I guarantee you won’t look back.
Pizza Dough
Ingredients
450g plain flour
1.5 tsp fast-action yeast
1.5 tsp salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
300 ml warm water
- Put the flour, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir briefly to combine the dry ingredients.
- Add the olive oil and the warm water and mix into a fairly wet dough.
- Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until it becomes smooth. This will take about 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a large bowl, cover and leave in a warm place to rise for an hour or so. If you haven’t got that long skip the rising stage!
- Split the dough into four even pieces and shape with your hands or on a floured surface with a rolling-pin into a nice round. Place on a baking tray.
Toppings
Ham, mushroom and mozzarella
Ingredients
Passata
8 button mushrooms sliced
4 slices of ham cut up
150g mozzarella torn up
Sprinkling of parmesan
- Spread the passata over the pizza bases. Arrange the mushrooms and ham before topping with the cheeses.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 220C fan. Serve with a nice dressed salad.
Alternatively make up your own toppings. Here is a asparagus, mushroom and red pepper pizza.
Do let me know how you get on. I would love to hear from you.
We had this on Sunday night. Delicious. Even josh (9 months old) liked it – although he mostly gummed it and didn’t get much down!
